HELPFUL HINTS, TESTIMONIALS & FAQS - DAZER

Fend Off Charging or Approaching Dogs!

Dogs bite an estimated 4.5 million Americans each year.

The consequences can be serious:  750,000 of these bites require medical attention, and about 18 bites a year are fatal.'

The first line of defence:
Learn how to recognize an aggressive dog. A canine that stops panting, turns to suddenly look at you or away from you, or becomes suddenly attentive and rigid in your presence may be feeling nervous and aggressive. If this happens to you, these steps could prevent a bite or an all-out attack--and it could save your life:

Stand still.
Don't approach or talk to the animal--but don't run away either. Dogs are pursuit predators with a chase reflex, Keep quiet, and stand at a 90-degree angle [sideways] to the dog. You should see him in your peripheral vision without facing or looking at him directly.

Minimize injury.
If you're being bitten and the dog doesn't release, slowly move closer, The worst damage occurs when you try to pull away or the dog shakes its head.

Then yell.
A biting dog may respond to a loud, authoritative "No, back!" '

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ( FAQ’S)

How Should I Use the DAZER?

The Dazer is suitable for all conditions (hot or cold) except very windy conditions can reduce the alpha wave interruption.

It works best if the target dog/cat is within 20 feet & can work up to 100 feet.

The closer the target is, the stronger the receiving signal will be & it needs to be in a direct line of sight ie the signal will be deflected by fences/walls etc.

Always give a strong ‘verbal’ command when using the unit eg NO or AARR & then press the DAZER for a full 2 seconds twice! Make sure you point the silver scanning disc towards the target. Be careful not to touch or damage this disc.

Make sure the red LED light shows when the DAZER is activated. No light usually means the battery needs replacing. Always replace with an ENERGISER 9Volt battery.

Does it hurt the dog?

No- the DAZER produces an ultrasonic output that is 115 dB at 0.5 meter reference. The sound pressure level is well below the threshold levels for pain for dogs. This frequency range is at 25 + or - 2 KHz; humans can hear to about 14 KHz, dogs as high as 40 KHz. The benefit is to provide a startle effect, called an alpha wave interruption - like when a human hears a smoke alarm -their hearing is not affected - the dogs’ reaction is deterred from the source of the strange sound.

It's important to realize that DAZER-II is an alpha wave interrupter device and the aggressive dog is startled and comes out of that state - which is why it works on dogs in that state - for passive or friendly dogs, their state of mind is more relaxed and not as prone to react. Results will vary depending on an animal's mental state, age, breed, temperament, health and intelligence.

Does it work on Pups?

Young dogs (up to about 9 months to a year old) are still developing their entire hearing range - so yes there may be some difficulty with working with young pups. Usually by 6 to 9 months they start to feel the pressure and then by a year old they are able to clearly hear the output. So if someone is trying to train a young pup they may not get the result desired. We would simply suggest they wait a couple of months and then see what happens; be sure as well that they use the same verbal command when using the device as a trigger or way to get the dogs attention.  There are exceptions and some young pups will respond.

Does a cheaper clone of the DAZER made in China work as well?

The differences are basically that the DAZER utilizes a full 25 mm transducer to produce sound, the clone uses a 12.5 mm one, less dispersion of sound obviously and less range and less power output.  The DAZER produces a SPL of 115 dB, the clone  is about 105, remember for every 6 dB there is a required doubling of power output. The DAZER uses a self diagnostic circuit, that means we actually monitor the battery output to assure optimum performance whenever it is used; plus it is tied directly to the output and can assure that sound is being produced - the clone uses a cheap straight circuit that simply is equivalent to a flashlight - it keeps putting out sound on an ever decreasing curve, therefore you can think it working at top levels but it is not and will be at low levels. The DAZER is powered by a 9V alkaline battery (ENERGIZER) that is included, the clone uses a cheap carbon zinc that is not even included - the importance of the type of battery is tied directly to the power level of the output, the higher the output power the better the battery required, DAZER wins hands down. The DAZER includes a stainless steel belt clip and the DAZER is Made in the USA – 100% quality assures. Originally designed 20 years ago!

TESTIMONIALS from NZ CUSTOMERS

Thank you. Stops our three dogs fighting a treat! The cat is not keen either! I need it as I sometimes visit houses with some unpleasant dogs in the course of my work. Nice easy trade.

I just wanted to give you some feedback on the Dazer.

I have a fox terrier cross that I rescued from the pound three years ago. As with rescue dogs there are often problems. A delightful dog in every other way but a total fruit loop in the car. Over the years we have tried everything...treats...crating...pills...electric dog collar...and basically gave up taking him anywhere in the car other than short essential trips. Anything longer and we were almost ready to toss him out! He yapped, whitttered, barked, leapt around in the car if not confined and chewed manically when he was quiet.

After a couple of trips in the car with Dazer he now listens when I give him a command and sits quietly on the seat. It looks like we have found the solution to a disappointing and previously unsolvable problem. This means we will be able to take him away with us and to the beach for walks with our other dog and although it is early days yet I am more than cautiously optimistic that we have found a good solution.

PRODUCT REVIEW

Dazer: Train aggressive hostile barking dogs. Ideal for jogging and walking.

This product takes a common 9 volt (alkaline) battery and comes with a comprehensive user's guide. Approximately the size of a garage door opener, it's ergonomically shaped to fit your hand. The activation button is centred perfectly and has raised edges making it very tactile and a strong, stainless steel belt clip makes for easy access and sure attachment. Made of durable, ABS plastic, it's tough enough to last for years. So, how did it perform?

Personal experience: My dog perks up his ears and takes notice when Dazer is triggered at 25 feet and I have tested it on dogs at 30 feet away and noticed immediate reaction. The effective range is within 20 to 25 feet ,but most effective in a 5-10 foot range. The closer the dog, the more effective .One instance in particular; while on a public sidewalk I was charged by an unrestrained angry, snarling dog, at 30 feet I triggered Dazer II - no reaction he kept coming! Then, within 10 feet I gave him another ear full of DAZER; as though hitting an invisible wall the dog reared up, turned abruptly and ran in the opposite direction. Dazer is also a useful training tool I've used to gently train a dog to heel and bring in line while walking him on a leash. DAZER is highly effective for discouraging our house cat from negative behavior i.e. scratching furniture, so it'll train house cats, or chase unwanted cats form your yard or garden.

Always be wary of highly aggressive dogs, some will do harm no matter what and there is no guarantee that Dazer-II will always have the desired effect. In a worst case scenario where a dog may bite and latch on, place Dazer-II directly against the dog's ear - it should be unbearable for the dog. It works in most instances to repel dogs without harm, or even, be noticed by dog owners.

If you want technology, DAZER has it, featuring self-diagnostics to ensure utmost effectiveness. Thus, if battery level is low or if damage prevents optimum sound output, the circuitry shuts down and the LED will not illuminate. So you always know where you stand. Dazer-II is a sensitive device and must be powered by a 9 volt, alkaline battery- only alkaline batteries produce the proper amperage for Dazer-II to function ( go with Energizer or Duracell).Comparatively , similar devices, if not up to par, simply emit less sound output as battery level declines. You don't need that !

This product should be used by adults only and is not intended for use by minors. Dazer should never be activated directly at, or near, a person's ear.
